Affordability

Stopping Insurance Hikes

Auto insurance, health insurance, and prescription costs are eating away at family budgets.

Pesach will:

  • Strengthen oversight of insurance companies through the New York State Department of Financial Services

  • Require full transparency and justification before any rate increases are approved

  • Support a prior approval system so insurers cannot raise rates without state sign-off

  • Crack down on fraud in the no-fault system that drives up premiums for honest drivers

Insurance should protect families — not drain their bank accounts.

Holding Utility Companies Accountable

Utility bills keep going up, and families are stuck paying the price.

Pesach will:

  • Push for stronger state oversight of utility rate increases through the Public Service Commission

  • Require greater transparency before rate hikes are approved

  • Fight for relief programs for middle-class families, not just the lowest-income brackets

  • Oppose unnecessary fees and mandates that raise energy costs

Basic utilities shouldn’t be a financial burden.

Making Childcare More Affordable

For many families, childcare costs feel like a second rent.

Pesach will:

  • Expand childcare tax credits so middle-class families actually qualify

  • Increase state support to childcare providers to create more available seats in Queens

  • Support tax incentives for employers who offer childcare assistance

Parents shouldn’t be forced to choose between working and raising their kids.

Expanding Middle-Class Tax Relief

Too many families make just enough to miss out on help — but still struggle to keep up.

Pesach will:

  • Expand the Empire State Child Tax Credit to provide real relief to families

  • Raise the income thresholds so more middle-class families qualify for tax relief

  • Cut unnecessary state fees and hidden costs that add up every month

  • Oppose new taxes that make it harder to live and work in New York

If you’re working hard and doing the right thing, the system should work for you — not against you.
